Men's Shelter
The Men's Shelter is a two-story facility located at 1030 Seventh Avenue Rear in downtown Huntington. The second floor houses the men's dormitory where a maximum of 45 men are lodged each night for up to twelve months depending on the program in which they are enrolled. Downstairs, on the first floor, is the Transient Lounge where up to 20 men per night can stay on a temporary basis. Drop-in services - available 24 hours a day, seven days a week - are available for transient men needing a hot shower, food, clean clothes or a place to rest. Whether a short-term guest or long-term program participant, all male guests receive counseling, case management, spiritual nurture and work therapy opportunities during their stay.

  Women & Family Shelter
Women and families that end up homeless, do so not necessarily because of a lack of housing, but because of inadequate family resources. They are unable to provide for themselves because of a lack of education, independent living skills, social supports and family problems. This is why housing alone is not the solution.

The Women & Family Shelter, housed in the Mission's new Ministries Building located at 624 Tenth Street has become a safe haven for women and families who may be fleeing domestic violence situations, attempting to leave a world of prostitution or drug dependency, or left homeless due to a loss of a job, family or money problems. The shelter provides 20 beds in four dorm-style rooms for single women, and 14 individual units for single parents and their children, as well as married couples with or without children.

Special features make the Mission's new facility a warm and inviting place to live, including a laundry, indoor playroom for the children, and congregate living areas for fellowship and healthy recreational activities. Residents can choose to stay on a temporary or transitional basis, depending on their motivation, willingness to participate in programs, and progress in securing jobs, vocational training and affordable housing. Chapel attendance and Bible study are considered integral parts of the spiritual ministry open to both women and family populations, but individual counseling and positive modeling with a focus on Christ are keys to this program's success.

  Project Hope
Located at 1012 Seventh Avenue, Project Hope is an 18-unit transitional living facility for homeless families. Each family lives in a furnished two or three-bedroom apartment while enrolled in the program, and can stay up to 18 months. Project Hope helps families by giving them the skills and supports necessary to succeed long term in establishing their own homes and living independently. It provides homeless families with a unique opportunity for comprehensive, sustained assistance and education under one roof.

Program activities are designed to assist the family in overcoming major life problems such as drug or alcohol addiction, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anger, hopelessness, etc., in a holistic and healing manner so they can focus on breaking the cycle of poverty, homelessness and dependency. Consequently, full participation in planned activities, workshops and counseling sessions is a major requirement and one of the many keys to successful living. Family members learn practical living skills, such as cooking and meal planning, money management, parenting, as well as job readiness training, basic computer instruction, and academic skills-building that will prepare them for the world of work, permanent housing and eventually self-sufficiency. The opportunity also is provided to develop their spiritual lives and learn the importance of Christian worship and devotional life, thus offering a spiritual foundation for growth.

  Safe Quarters
Safe Quarters is a private eight-bed unit for homeless men and women who are experiencing psychiatric difficulties but may not need hospitalization. The product of a successful partnership, this exemplary program is staffed by both licensed mental health professionals from Prestera Center and Mission employees. Working as a team, staff are trained to assess a resident's mental state and offer the very best care, treatment and protection for this fragile population. The fact that hundreds of clients have been spared the frightening experience and expense of being hospitalized is a rewarding thought.

  The Lazarus Program
The Lazarus Program is designed to help men be freed from their addictions. No matter if that addiction is drugs, alcohol, nicotine, pornography, etc...we believe that by discipling them in the Word of God and offering them a safe environment that they will be able to overcome the things that have led to their being under such a strong burden of sin and addiction. We take 5-8 men at a time and agree to feed them, clothe them, provide all of their needs for a 6 - 12 month period if they will agree to abide by our rules and follow God's guideline to change their life...from the inside, out.
